Well after seeing the IRB's out racing last summer after I had Taj I really wanted to honour the "hoon" side of me that my girlfriend Marie speaks so fondly of and join the surf club and race the IRB's. To do that though you have to be on Surf Patrol and also have to have time to train!!!
So this weekend is my first Patrol, I already have my surf bronze which I got way back when I was a teenager and I will be doing my refresher. I have that nervous excitement going on leading up to it, you know when you are doing something new, you just want it to get here and hurry up and get on with it. The lead up is so often worse than the actual event.....
I am really looking forward to being in a team, I love team sports/events and I love being in the sea........and living in Wainui with children it is really important to "know this beach" as it can be very fierce at times.
So here I go..........
