We were right in the full impact of the earthquake. Our house is next to Wainui Beach it rocked and shook like
being on the Interislander in big storms. We have three children 9, 7 and a
baby, we physically could not hold onto all of them and stand under a doorway without
being thrown around the room. Powerlines
were destroyed right outside our house, water sloshed around in water tanks
nearby threatening to crack and break. The scariest
thing for Wainui and seaside residents is the fear of tsunami, everyone was
getting in their cars and driving for the hills nearby, we stayed still and
waited to hear trusting that we would be ok. Our power was out for a long time
which is concerning when you count on water and power for babies and young
children, it was a very scary experience indeed and I am very grateful for my
family and those workmen that worked through the night to restore the power.
Thank you
I pray for all the residents of the East Coast, the retailers who have been severely affected and visitors to this region. Please let us prosper.
